Love Is the Seventh Wave
Introductory Offer: On the first weekend of publishing (1st-4th of May 2025) you can purchase Love Is the Seventh Wave at a discount of 20% - no coupon code required.
The 1st of May is a public holiday in many countries and is celebrated as Labour Day. In the Rhineland, however, May, 1st has another function. Here, young people place a birch tree decorated with colorful paper ribbons in front of their loved ones’ doors as a sign of their affection. That’s why I decided to release the new pattern Love Is the Seventh Wave two days before the weekend, and the introductory offer will run until the 4th of May. So may the fourth be with you.
Love Is the Seventh Wave is originally designed for Zauberball Cotton and Cotton Ball by Schoppel. I used755y/690m - 5.85oz/165g of Yarn A Junges Gemüse and 254y/232m; 1.95oz/55g or Yarn B Armeeblau to create a shawl with a width of 12“/30cm and a length of 77“/196cm. I used Junges Gemüse for the Stripes and the Ribbing and Armeeblau for the Ribbing alone. I knitted three repeats of all modules. If you want to knit your shawl with just two balls you can knit one Stripe with Yarn A and one with Yarn B and knit only 2 1/2 repeats provided your swatch is equal to mine.
I also knitted another shawl with Schoppell Laceball using two strands at the same time to create a stretched out gradient. I used Schattenspringer as Yarn A and Elefantentreffen as Yarn B. I knitted one Stripe with Yarn A and one with Yarn B. I knitted 3 repeats and used 4.1oz/116g of each color for a shawl with 11”/27cm width and 68”/172cm length.
You can use any other yarn and yarn weight and adjust the size by the amount of modules you knit. If you want a wider shawl you can simply add another Stripe + Ribbing.
Although Love is the Seventh Wave is a modular knit but there is no seaming involved as you will join the modules as you go. You will find ample photo tutorials on all the used techniques
All instructions are given in written and charted form along with graphics to explain the setup. But if you have any questions or feel like you struggle, send me a personal note on Ravelry or an email and I’ll be happy to help you along the way.
Happy Knitting
