Read the instructions first as you need to change your hooks throughout the pattern.

The front of the cowl also has a heart and a few tassels for fringing to build on the macramé trend, but you don’t need to add them if you don’t wish.

For no frills (i.e. no heart of tassel), you only need the 20 mm hook for the cowl itself. Hence don’t worry about having a 9mm hook.

Here the larger hook size is listed as 19 mm because I couldn’t find it on the drop-down menu when uploading the pattern. So if you do use a 19 mm just be aware that the gauge will be different, so ** please swatch first.
