Lovely Lass Tam
Lass is the Scottish word for girl or loved one.
This tam is named after a Scottish song called ‘I once loved a Lass’.I
This song is so beautifull, it moves me to tears, specially at the end where the young man says he’ll rather be in a deep grave than see his beloved one married to another.
I wanted a sort of “Scottish” tam, not a tartan and no tweed.
So “Lovely Lass” was born.
Lovely Lass comes in 2 brim sizes.
- app. 50-52 cm
- app. 54-56 cm.
brim - top app. 22 cm
yarn - any sock yarn
May 2021.
Back in 2010 when I designed this pattern I never heard of jogless knitting or ladder back jacquard.
Now I use these techniques all the time and they make all the difference!
No more long floats on the inside, no more tangled up yarn and no more disconnected stripes.
All neat and tidy.
Next to that I knit it on 2.75 mm (pattern calls for 2.5mm) because I knit more tightly now.
And I cast on more stitches (144) and knit2/purl2 instead knit1/purl1 for a more stretchy cuff.
I haven’t described these techniques in the pattern, it would make it unnecessarily complicated and long. You can easily find these techniques on internet.
