The 2026 update has seen the pattern re-formatted and new samples worked in currently available yarns.

I’m pleased to offer a 1€ discount with the code LuckToLoyne until the end of Jan 2026 to mark the re-release.

Loyne remains a great shawl or bandana scarf for using up leftovers of fingering or sport weight yarns and a great opportunity to combine your favourite colours.

The shawl is worked from the bottom up and instructions are given for two sizes - small and large, although you can work as many repeats of the 6 row stitch pattern as you choose or have yarn for.

The small takes approx 90m of each colour and the large 140m of each colour.

Ideally yarns should have a bit of loft and bounce to them to really bring out the stitch pattern. Yarns with a tighter twist don’t look so great. Colour combination is important also in terms of getting a nice contrast and not losing the stitch pattern.

The shawl can be worn bandana style or as a more traditional shawl.

Sizes:
Small - 109cm/43 inches wide, 23cm/9 inches drop at central point
Large - 167cm/65.74 inches wide, 34cm/13.5 inches drop at central point

Two options are given for the cast off edge along the top of the shawl, a plain one colour cast off and a 2 colour cast off, which can be seen in the various samples in the pattern pictures.

Many thanks to 2bev and angelicpurl for testing the pattern and to my friends Anne & Anna for modelling for the original pictures.
