Lynnie Rose Blanket
The idea for this blanket came to me after my daughter was born, so fittingly I named the blanket after her. I wanted to make her something that was pretty and fun, with textured stitches she could play with, but also something that she could grow with. And so the Lynnie Rose Blanket was born. I hope y’all enjoy making it as much as I did.
This blanket was designed as a rectangular repeat blanket, meaning that you can make your blanket as big as you want by repeating a certain set of rounds.
The written pattern has detailed instructions, as well as lots of of images, tutorials, and tips to help you make it. A print-friendly version of the pattern is also available.
Difficulty: Intermediate. However, it was written with Adventurous Beginners in mind.
Materials Needed:
DK yarn
4mm hook
Scissors
Stitch marker(s) - optional
Yarn needle
Yarn:
For a blanket with 2 Repeats & the Border, I used:
• Colors A, E, F, G, & H - 1 skein of Paintbox Simply DK for each.
• Color B - 1 skein Sylecraft Special DK
• Colors C & D - 2 skeins of Paintbox Simply DK for each
Yarn and color specifics are given in the pattern.
Size:
My finished blanket, after 2 Repeats and the Border, measures 32 in. x 44 in.
Each Repeat adds approximately 3.75 in. to each side, meaning that it adds about 7.5 in. to the length and 7.5 in. to the width every repeat.
Depending on your tension, yours may come out bigger or smaller, even if you use the stated yarn and hook size. To adjust the square’s size, you can change your tension, yarn weight, and/or hook size.
Modifications:
If you’d rather, you can also make a square repeat blanket. Instructions are given on how you can do so. The last 2 pictures are of my wonderful tester S.S.’s square version (pictures shared with permission).
Detailed instructions are given for Special Stitches.
This pattern also uses Starting and Standing Stitches in place of chains, with detailed instructions provided, though you can use chains in most cases if you’d prefer.
