My now late Great-Grandma used to knit this kind of socks to us when we were kids. Once I learned to knit, I wanted to knit this kind of socks, but didn’t found it written anywhere. Finally my mother teached the pattern to me, and since I’ve knitted several pairs, one to great-grandma as well. I’ve altered the pattern little, so that it fits better. I hope that this pattern brings you the same joy it does to me with it’s traditionality.
Mens socks can be done with same pattern, with ten squares (=100s) and knitting otherwise with 16s/needle. For children use 5-7 squares. If you use heavyer yarn try the cuff on and use ½mm smaller needles than you’d normaly use.
This is also great pattern for left over yarns, as every entrelac-row can be knitted with different colours.
