Maaret is named after a dear friend of mine. She is originally from Finland, where winters are long, and some summer days have the sun never go down. Maaret loves the summer days and finally settled in Miami, Florida. There, she says, she is finally at home. The winters are gone and only the summer days remain. Maaret has been sharing the most brilliant colors you can imagine in her Miami photographs. When I received the Mrs. Crosby yarn for this project, I immediately thought of Maaret and her stunning images. I could not help but name the shawl after her. The blue and green of the Miami sea and sky intermingle just as this shawl’s two pattern do. The Maaret shawl is a celebration of both the sea and the sky.
