This shawl was originally released as part of the Wooly Wonka Celtic Year Club.

Mabon celebrates the Autumnal Equinox, when the days are getting shorter and the nights have a distinctive chill. This wrap is inspired by the equinox’s balance of light and dark, the fiery red of leaves changing colors before they blanket the forest floor, and the seeds of hope that we plant in fall to get us through the long winter ahead.

Measurements about 82” / 208 cm long at top edge and 17” / 43 cm wide.

Needles Size 5 US / 3.75 mm circular needle, 32” / 80cm long. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge 24 sts and 45 rows = 4” / 10 cm in blocked Garter stitch pattern, 24 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in blocked lace pattern.

The shawl begins at the center top with a garter stitch tab, and is worked down as a triangular shawl until the depth is reached, then the two sides are worked separately with shaping along the edges to create each half of the wrap. In the garter stitch sections, only one color is worked at a time, the pattern is created by slipping stitches.
