This design features two versions. It can be knitted in either Chunky yarn or DK, with or without ear flaps. The macramé tassles add a little bit of fun to the hat.

Measurements:

Band measures: 50 cm / 20”

Yarn:

Blacker Gotland (DK; 110 m / 119 yds per 50g)
Chunky Version; 3 balls
Cosy Version; 2 balls

Gauge:

Chunky: 17 sts x 15 rows = 10 cm / 4” in garter stitch with yarn held double

Cosy: 25 sts x 25 rows = 10 cm / 4” in garter stitch

Adjust needle size to give required tension

Needles:

Chunky: 6 mm (US 10) - straight knitting needles

Cosy: 4.5 mm (US 7) - straight knitting needles

Notions:

darning needle (large needle for sewing up); crochet hook (for picking up stitches)

Notes:

Hats are knitted using an unusual construction. A series of triangles are knitted and then seamed and become the crown. A garter stitch band is picked up and added.
