Madhu Hat uses a simple slipped honeycomb stitch pattern to highlight the variegated colors. The invisible decreases of the crown give the hat a consistent and uniformed look. The brim is given an asymmetric look by working short rows. This ‘extension’ of the brim can be worn folded-up (optionally beautified by a button) or left down to give an asymmetric look.

The hat is knit bottom-up with a provisional cast-on (casting on using waste yarn). After working the brim and shaping the crown, the hat is cast off. The provisional cast on is revealed to get live stitches around the brim and then the asymmetrical ‘flap’ is shaped with short rows.

The finished measurements are of the unstretched hat. The hat doesn’t stretch much since the brim is made in garter stitch. If you are in between two sizes, I suggest to go with the smaller one.
