Here’s a sweet doll sweater for all our special little gals. It’s worked in washable sock yarn. Light sport weight works too.

What’s fun about this pattern

This mostly seamless cardigan is quick and pretty, with a simple lace trim. It’s a wonderful introduction to knitting a sweater. Great for intermediate knitters.

How it’s constructed

A schematic is included. Circumference is 12” at waist.

Sleeves (short or long) are worked from the cuff up, in the round. The cardigan body is worked flat from the bottom up and the sleeves are joined raglan style.

Sweater fronts, back and sleeve caps are worked together as one piece, shaping armholes and sleeve caps with decreases. Shoulders worked with a three-needle bindoff after joining with sleeve cap stitches. The neckline is shaped with short rows.

The underarms are grafted with Kitchener Stitch. Buttons may be knit directly into the button band, or sewn on after sweater is complete.

Basic knitting skills, both flat and in the round. Familiarity with short rows and lace helpful.
