The Magic Cake Ruffle Shawl is a top down, triangular shawl with a center spine and long tails. It is finished off with a ruffle that drapes gracefully on the ends. Exact stitch counts are not necessary. Gauge is not critical. If you run out of yarn and the shawl is not big enough to suit you, simply join in another random color. By using techniques described in the pattern there is minimal finishing. Best of all, if you knit with fingering weight yarn you probably have enough leftovers from previous projects right in your stash. It’s fun! It’s fast! It uses up stash!

Materials used in sample shawl are170 g fingering weight yarn composed of 12 colors of varying weights. These weights and colors are listed in the pattern with instructions on how to make your own Magic Cake. The same principles can be applied with any weight yarn and you can mix weights and styles for an artsy look. How about a Magic Cake party with friends each bringing a skein of yarn and dividing these up to make your own Magic Cakes?
