Released in 1992, Aladdin tells the story of a poor but kindhearted boy who discovers a magic lamp and is granted three wishes to change his life. Part of the Disney Renaissance, the film was a huge success, winning two Academy Awards® and releasing a successful soundtrack. First introduced in the Cave of Wonders on the outskirts of Agrabah, Carpet is an important ally of Aladdin’s, ultimately helping him to defeat the evil sorcerer Jafar and win Princess Jasmine’s heart. Saving Aladdin’s life on more than one occasion, Magic Carpet proves to be a loyal friend, a lover of truth, and a silent hero—all with a sense of humor.

Snuggle up with your very own magic carpet! Worked flat using a combination of garter stitch and intarsia, purling is carefully incorporated on wrong-side rows to invisibly join large areas of color, despite the overall use of garter stitch. To stabilize the intarsia section, a thick border of linen stich is picked up on each side, similar to log cabin blanket construction. Top each corner with a tassel, and get ready for a whole new world of knitted fun.
