Magnolia Cafe Cardigan
During shaping, if there are not enough stitches to work a complete cable, work the stitches of the partial cable in stockinette.
The front bands are and shawl collar are worked in two mirror-image pieces that are seamed together at the center back neck, then sewn to the front edges of the cardigan. I find that the bind-off edge of a shawl collar can sometimes look untidy, so I have chosen not to pick up the stitches for the bands and the collar along the edges of the garment. Instead, the bind-off edge of the assembled collar and bands is sewn to the body, leaving the cast-on edge showing (which looks much nicer).
When choosing buttons, make sure they have holes large enough to fit a tapestry needle threaded with a strand of the contrasting color (CC yarn).
