These toe-up socks are a great introduction to Japanese lace, with a simple pattern that is easy to remember. Twisted stitches combine with eyelets to create a lovely pattern that covers the whole of the sock.

Sizes - measured around mid-foot

  • Small - 7” (17.75)
  • Medium - 8” (20.25)
  • Large - 9” (22.75)

Notions

  • 2 stitch markers
  • tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

Instructions for the lace pattern are both charted and fully written out so you can choose which you prefer.
I’d love it if you’d come to my group to show off your lovely socks, or chat about them while you’re making them. You’d be very welcome!

If by chance you love the look of these socks but hate the idea of toe-up, then please check out Happy Coincidence Socks by my friend Jacqui Goulbourn. Somehow we managed to design socks that looked almost identical at the same time, though hers are top-down. In the end we decided that, rather than either of us “claiming” the idea, we’d publish both and embrace the idea of great minds think alike.
