Majella - mittens
Many of my designs take their name from my Italian birthplace, among the Abruzzo. Majella is a massif rising to 2,795 metres that local people also refer to as ‘Mother’. The surface texture of these mittens reminds me strongly of Majella clad in its vivid springtime hues. Linen stitch is ideal for a dense, warm mitten and this pattern is simply worked over two-round stripes of two alternating shades.

Pattern notes
These mittens are worked from bottom to top. After the cuff is worked in corrugated rib, the hand follows a striped linen stitch pattern. Waste yarn is inserted for an afterthought thumb, which is completed at the end.
