Malla Shawl
Tämä huivi on yhteistyö RainboWoolin kanssa.
This pattern is a collaboration with RainboWool.
In Finnish mythology, the ancient giants Saana and Malla were living in northern part of Finland. Malla was a beautiful lady, her bridegroom was Saana. However, Peltsa from Sweden wanted to have Malla as his bride and asks the wizards of the Arctic Ocean to help steal Malla. Saana and Malla are fleeing from them but they aren’t fast enough and they are buried under the ice and are freezed to the shore of Kilpisjärvi. Eras will turn them into fells (mountains in Lapland) and Malla’s tears will flood into the Kilpisjärvi (a lake in Lapland).
This shawl is knitted from side to side and bottom-up with two different sections. It is shaped with increases and decreases on the lower edge of the shawl and short-rows to grow the shawl into a triangle.
