Materials according to Interweave Knits, Summer 2008: 2 skeins Sheepsdown or 2 wheels Unspun Icelandic wool. A long circular needle (magic loop) of a size to give you wanted gauge or a pair of 24” needles to work around; or a 16” needle followed by a set of d.p. needles for top shaping.

…A friend returning from foreign parts once brought me a Maltese Fisherman’s Hat to copy. … A wide band of garter-stitch encircled neck-back and ears, which it hugged in a very comforting fashion.
