The Mama Bear slipover is worked from the top down.
First, the back yoke is knitted. Then, stitches are picked up along the right and left shoulders, and each side of the front is worked separately before being joined at the bottom of the V-neck.
The front is then worked down to the base of the armhole, where it is joined with the back. From this point, the rest of the body is worked in the round on a circular needle.
Increases are made for the peplum, which is finished with a folded hem that is knitted down on the wrong side of work.
Finally, stitches are picked up around the armholes for the armhole edgings, and along the V-neck for the neckband.
Both the armhole and neck edgings are finished with an Italian bind-off.
