Manifest Destiny
If you look closely at this pattern, you can see components of westward expansion. The parallel panels on both sides of the stole resemble wagon wheels or train tracks. The diamond motif is laid out in a grid system like many western towns; however at a distance the motif resembles the flowers found on the prairie. The arrow stitch design in the center is a nod to the Native peoples of the West. It’s my hope that this stole gives you an opportunity to think about your own destiny.
Pattern Notes: While the charts on this pattern may appear intimidating the lace work is dead simple with just enough spice to keep it interesting. There are no overly complex stitches, just the basics of lace knitting. The combo of purl rows and garter stitches keep this stole from curling.
Yarn Notes: This stole would do well with solid or kettle dyed lace yarn, variegated yarns may obscure the lace pattern. Fingering weight yarn may be used resulting in a longer and wider finished product.
Pattern has been test knit. Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.
