Manly Yes… But I like it too

I was told that I needed a more “manly” toque for the 7 Hats More eBook. So, I worked on creating a classic guernsey style pattern in a rich colour (not a plain joe grey, but a manly, deep red) with deeply textured knit and purl patterns. I really liked the look! I would wear this! And Manly Yes… was created, with just a little tongue in cheek.

Manly starts with a hemmed band instead of the usual rib. Inside the hem is a little message, “Manly yes… But I like it too”! Leave the inside plain, work your own message – there will be plain grid charts at the end of the pattern for your own personalized message. (there are many charted alphabets online)

Materials: worsted weight yarn, 170 (200) yds main colour and 30 yds contrast, sample was knit with Estelle Alpaca Merino Worsted and Cascade 220 worsted, 3.75mm US #4 16-inch circs, 4.5mm US #6, 16-inch circs and dpn’s, markers and the usual notions.
