In the Contrasts pamphlets this is pattern 1, illustrated on the front and back cover, with instructions on page 7.

Hat for Lady and Hat for Man
The two patterns are largely the same, but
cast on ten more stitches and knit an extra two rows for the man’s hat.

Each pamphlet has a different set of recommended yarns. The following are from the The Family Knitting Book.. There are 2 numbers of balls. The first is for the Lady’s hat, the second for the Man’s.
