Jamieson’s Shetland (100% wool, 115 yds/50 g): 2 balls 125 Slate (MC), 1 ball 999 Black (CC1), 1 ball 122 Granite (CC2) 1 ball 187 Sunrise (CC3)

#1 US double pointed needles

#2 US double-pointed needles, or size to obtain gauge

#3 US double pointed needles, or size to obtain gauge

Scrap yarn for tubular cast-on (~ 1 yard)

Scrap yarn for thumb gusset

Stitch holder or scrap yarn to use as stitch holder

Stitch marker.

NOTE: Colorwork tends to pull your knitting in, which is why both a #2 and a #3 needle are recommended for this pattern. If you get gauge using a #2 in plain stst, you will most likely need to switch to a #3 needle while working the colorwork portions to maintain gauge. The directions reflect this assumption. If you have never worked with two colors at once before and are uncertain how your gauge is likely to change, it is highly recommended that you swatch in both plain and two-color stst.
