Featured on the front cover of Issue 53 of The Knitter.

This slightly oversized sweater features a traditional Norwegian Star motif in the stranded sections and the “Eagle” pattern, giving a little texture to the remaining sections, is very simple but effective. The style of the two individual pockets give the cosy look of a “hoodie” or fleece but without the bulk of extra material across the front.

The techniques required are not particularly demanding other than a working knowledge of stranded knitting, grafting (Kitchener Stitch) at the pocket tops and both flat knitting and knitting in the round are used here. The construction is a little unusual but full instructions are given.

The body can easily be lengthened for an even more relaxed look but do remember to allow extra yarn.
