Maria Luisa Top
The Maria Luisa Top is designed and inspired by Maria Luisa de Medici, one of the women born to the famous Florentine family. It was she who made the law that all of the masterpieces of art that the family had acquired during the Renaissance could not be removed from the city center of Florence, Italy. This is why, to this day, the most amazing works of the Italian Renaissance are preserved and are still on display, which include works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphaelo, Donatello, and hundreds more.
This top is knit in the round from the bottom up. Following the chart or written instructions, you will work the cables up the body finishing with the diamond shaped Medici Chart. Then you will work the rest of the body, which can be altered to your preferred length, before dividing parts for making the cups. Each of the two sides are worked identically, ending with the strap where the straps are worked long enough to be tied in a bow at the top of the shoulder.
