Marieke Knot Bag

Marieke is a large Japanese knot bag that uses a combination of feltable and non-feltable yarns to create an original, textured, colorful bag with a distinctive boho feel. Each Marieke will be unique. The yarns you use are your choice; the stitches and textures are your choice; the colors your choice. Strands of various weight yarns can be held together to create different color combinations and textures. The pattern provides extensive guidelines for how to make choices that work. These guidelines are followed by the bag pattern proper. Any feltable yarn from lace weight to bulky weight, and any non-feltable yarn from laceweight to sportweight can be incorporated into the project. So dive into your stash, purchase an interesting yarn or two, and create something entirely your own! The bag is knit in the round from the base up, then lightly felted in a washing machine.
The finished bag is about 14 inches wide by 12 inches high. The shoulder strap is 36 inches long.
Yardage requirements are the equivalent of 350 yards of bulky weight yarn.
