Keep your hands warm during chilly morning walks with the Marquam mittens. The fully faced cuff of this classic ski-style accessory, charted for three sizes, wards off even the stiffest of breezes while adding stability to the ribbed outer fabric. Choosing your colors for this project will be a joy as Arbor’s breadth of jewel tones and soothing neutrals lend themselves brilliantly to the spherical colorwork motif, which can be worked in either two or four colors.

Please note: the stitch patterns used for this accessory are charted only.

Construction

  • The mittens are worked circularly from the cuff up. The bottom hem is made by knitting together live stitches from the cast on with the main fabric stitches to create a ribbed hem with a stockinette stitch facing.
  • Thumb stitches are knit onto waste yarn and thumb is worked after body of mitten is completed.
