Marshmallow Bunny Mug Cosy
Mug cosies are such a practical but pretty way to keep your tea or coffee warm. So many times I have tea while I’m knitting, but I think “I’ll just finish this pattern repeat and then I’ll have another sip…” – before I know it, my tea has gone cold!
I designed this mug cosy to add a sweet touch to your favourite cup of tea. Five little bunnies decorate the cosy - this is an excellent project to practice your colour work on as it’s a quick, satisfying knit. They also make wonderful gifts! The wool keeps your tea (or coffee) beautifully warm, and also shows off the colourwork to its best. This cosy fits a standard sized mug, including our Hedgehog Quote Mugs.
Skill Level: Intermediate colour work (you’ll need to read a simple colour work chart and carry yarn across the back of the work when not in use.)
This pattern is a combination of written & charted instructions.
It includes:
- How to read a knitting chart
- Written instructions to finish off your cosy
- Full list of materials, needles and notions needed
Needles: 1 pair 3.75mm needles & 1 pair 3.75mm double-pointed needles (for the i-cord)
Materials:
You’ll need small amounts of DK weight yarn in 4 colours. Wool or Alpaca yarn is best for colourwork as the fibres mesh together, creating a better finish than when knitted in cotton yarns. To make cosies like the ones pictured, use the following yarns:
Mug Cosy 1:
Yarn A: WOOLganic Merino 8ply in Krishna
Yarn B: WOOLganic Merino 8ply in Grapefruit Moon or Adagio Mills Alpaca 8ply in Vanilla Milkshake
Yarn C: WOOLganic Merino 8ply in Lotus
Mug Cosy 2:
Yarn A: Adagio Mills Alpaca 8ply in Fudge
Yarn B: Adagio Mills Alpaca 8ply in Vanilla Milkshake
Yarn C: WOOLganic Merino 8ply in Lotus
For both cosies:
Yarn D: WOOLganic Merino 4ply or 8ply in Black Swan (this yarn is used to stitch on the eyes & nose after knitting, hence it doesn’t matter which ply it is in)
Notions: 1 wooden button
