Mason Cardigan
This sweater was born when a friend (very) unexpectedly became a grandfather. I wanted to design a cardigan whose simplicity would work to showcase a beautiful sock yarn. Although I named it “Mason” (after the baby in question) there’s certainly nothing particularly masculine about the design.
Raglan cardigan in sock/fingering weight yarn. Moss stitch edges with button closure for a traditional look. Knit in the round for easy finishing. Shown in size 12 months.
In sizes 0-3m/6-9m/12m/18m/24m- finished chest 20.5”/23”/25”/26”/27”(52/58/64/67/69cm); finished length 11.75”/12.5”/13.5”/14”/15” (30/32/34/36/38cm)
330/390/460/480/530 yards (302/357/421/440/485 meters) sock/fingering/baby weight yarn
Sizes 3US/3.25mm and 4US/3.5mm circular needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO GET GAUGE, stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needle, four 1”/2.5cm buttons
Note: Sweater is knit back and forth, sleeves are knit in the round. I use circulars for this. If you prefer to knit sleeves on double pointed needles, and/or body on straight needles, choose needles accordingly.
