Mathilde's Pride Socks
This sock is inspired by a young friend who has come out to her family and friends. I was working on my Loop the Loop Shawl when I found out and thinking about my gay and trans friends I realised that the braids and loops could represent the barriers still present in society for them and the hoops, both emotional and societal, that my friends jump through to simply lead their day to day lives.
I knitted these socks because my young friend’s dad said that he had found a rainbow hat and scarf for her and he wondered if I had any other ideas she might like…
The combination of Latvian Braids, I-Cord Loops and texture stitches make for an interesting leg after a vanilla foot and short row heel.
