Matyó designs originated in embroidery over 200 years ago within Hungary. This bag, which would be perfect as a handbag or clutch bag, has been inspired by the colours and motifs of Matyó designs.

The main “granny” square motif would be rated intermediate level for crocheters due to many colour changes and unusual stitches such as front post stitches and clusters, but the strap itself is made from simple rows of single crochet stitches.

This design would also lend itself well to a blanket pattern.
