The Maude Cardigan is a delicate cardigan featuring a variety of textures and lacework. Whilst the cardigan looks intricate to work, each ‘section’ includes an easily memorisable 4 row pattern repeat, so there are no complicated charts to follow.

First, the back is worked back and forth with increases to shape the shoulders. Stitches are then picked up along the slanted edge where the increases were worked to form each front and worked back and forth whilst shaping the neck. The fronts are then joined to the back at the underarms and worked back and forth until the desired length is achieved. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole opening; short rows are worked to shape the shoulder followed by working in the round across the sleeve whilst working strategically placed decreases to taper the sleeves without disrupting the textured patterns. The body and sleeves are finished in ribbing. Stitches are then picked up on each edge of the cardigan to work the button band in rib with buttonholes along the right side. Finally, stitches are picked up and knitted in rib along the neck edge.
