Mawney is a handsome, unisex beanie that makes effective use of simple knit-and-purl-stitch combinations: A narrow, rolled edging turns into wide ribbing turns into basketweave-stitch sides that turn into a decorative crown with a ring of raised “spokes.”

The hat is knit in chunky (bulky) weight yarn. Chunky yarns vary widely in thickness and suggested gauges. For best results, use a yarn with a suggested gauge of 14 stitches = 4 in./10 cm.
