May Your Days Be Merry
In December 2015 I participated in an advent calendar swap. Send out six 5g miniskeins to four people and get 24 miniskeins yourself. I wanted to use up as much as I could of the skeins I got, so I came up with these striped knee-high socks. They are toe-up socks, with an afterthought heel and a twisted rib cuff.
They are a great comfort during cold winter months and remind me of my Ravelry friends and this great knitting community we have here. They are a burst of merriness with their colorful miss-matched stripes. Hence the name :)
I kept notes of what I did and when I was writing them up for myself for future reference, I thought, I would share them with you all here, too. This is not a pattern as such and I’m not calling it one. It’s my notes on a recipe format. The directions are only for one size, which is women’s small (my foot is about EUR 36-37 / US 6.5). I do give suggestions for customizing it to fit your feet, but note that these have not been tested.
I used 24 different colors for the stripes (12 for each sock) + yarn for the toes and heels.
The recipe can be downloaded for free, so give it a go and experiment with what you have!
If you do knit them, I’d love to see them!
And I hope they bring you as much joy as they do to me :)
