This cowl features a flared bottom for a better fit and is generous in height, allowing it to be pulled up over the head as a snood. It is worked in a light fingering weight yarn that is pure Merino wool- Bernini MERINO WOOL (50 grams, 150 meters, 100% Merino wool): 2 skeins each of #23 (Color 1); #18 (Color 2). (Please note that this yarn is from China and may be difficult to find. I encourage you to substitute a light fingering weight yarn that will yield the specified gauge – and in your choice of colors to create the contrast you seek.)

The yarn I used may be difficult to find, so I encourage you to use one of your favorite yarns that will yield the gauge indicated. Experiment with colors as well – creating either a high or low contrast that’s pleasing to you.

Using both Fair Isle and mosaic knitting techniques, the pattern is suitable for the intermediate-level knitter.
