Steps to making this vest:
1. Pick what size you want your finished sweater to be. The finished garment needs to be at least 3 to 4” larger than the chest measurement of the wearer.
- The sweater is worked from the bottom up. To make the side slits, the front and back panels are worked separately, then joined to make the sweater body. Both lower panels have so many stitches, that using circular needles is suggested, but please note both panels are worked as flat pieces, and there will be a outside/right side (RS) and an inside/wrong side (WS) to each piece. Please read the “notes on following this chart” section carefully. When the panels are joined at the top of the side slits, the knitting changes to work “in the round,” and all stitches are worked from the RS. There is one more change, from in the round work to flat work, at the armholes.
3.There are blank spaces and tables of numbers in this pattern. These tables show the correct numbers for all the sweater sizes for this pattern. All the tables have finished sweater sizes at the top in bold print. By first finding your size and second following the line of numbers down, you can find the correct stitch/inch numbers for your size. You can then match each number with the blank space in the pattern at the left, along the same horizontal line, and fill in the blank with the correct stitch number for your size.
