Medallion
One of my overarching goals with my design work is customisability and accessibility. In the past year I have worked on developing my Any Gauge method of designing (previous patterns I’ve published with this method are the Any Gauge Tube Cowl and The Hug Shrug) which has further built on this goal by allowing knitters the flexibility and freedom to use these patterns to knit their project with any yarn and needle combination that they would like. These Any Gauge designs provide knitters with the tools and confidence to truly create something unique and customised to them!
My first book “Cowls” is the next step in developing this Any Gauge idea further.

Cowls: A Colourwork Sourcebook & Patterns, Inspired by Persia
In her book, Cowls: A Colourwork Sourcebook & Patterns, Inspired by Persia, the knitting designer and podcaster Mina Philipp explores her Iranian heritage, and the motifs found in traditional Persian woven rugs. Mina uses her “Any Gauge” approach to create a colourwork cowl sourcebook using yarns from fingering-weight to bulky. Knitters can find their perfect combination of yarn, gauge and shape from the many options presented, and can even design their own, using the calculations and the knitting graph paper provided. This 78-page full-colour book contains information on techniques and links to further resources, as well as 12 full patterns to make the beautiful, colourful cowls featured in this collection. With Cowls, Mina has created a fun, inclusive, inspiring, step-by-step guide to creating your own unique knitted pieces, always with the beginner knitter in mind. We hope you will enjoy knitting from this book, and that it will inspire you to try something new with your knitting.
Pricing & Availability
The e-book is listed for £17, it is also going to be available for £14.50 with the coupon code PWW145. This is part of my philosophy of having a “Pay What Works” pricing structure for my designs allowing people to choose how much they can afford to pay for a pattern/e-book based on their personal financial situation. (Please note that VAT is added automatically to the listing price on Ravelry and is paid to the relevant government authorities)
The e-book will also be available for in-store LYS sales, as well through Ravelry.
There is a ready to ship option in my ETSY SHOP where you can get a combined Physical Soft Cover copy and E-book for £24.95.
Ravelry Download codes for the e-book copy will be sent to the purchaser shortly after purchase.
Please note if you purchase the e-book on Ravelry directly and then decide to purchase the physical book from my Etsy I cannot provide discount codes etc so please bear that in mind when making an order.
Also as this book is written with an Any Gauge method there are not specific yarn/needle requirements as you can use any yarn and needle combination you would like for your projects. However the yarns used for each fo the samples knit for the book were kindly provided by a range of companies who supported my idea and I highly recommend their yarns if you are looking to purchase yarn for any of the patterns, these companies are listed and links provided to their online shops:
