Meden Agan
The name of this shawl means “nothing in excess” which I feel is the perfect description.
It starts with garter stitch, a favorite for shawls because it is easily executed and grows quickly.
But---can get boring if that’s all you do.
So it changes to an openwork pattern I call clusters. A little more challenging, definitely not TV knitting but very pretty.
But----a person can only concentrate on a more complicated pattern for so long before it becomes a candidate for frogging or hypernating.
So it changes back to an easy horizontal eyelet pattern, mostly stockinette, something that could be TV knitting with the right show. But----stockinette with eyelet can become just as boring as garter.
So, it ends with a Quill Eyelet pattern. Not as challenging as the cluster stitch, but just as lovely!
I used my favorite Done Roving yarn but this design would work with any weight yarn and appropriately sized needles.Solid colors would work well or it could be a stash buster by changing skeins at each pattern change.
This design is also eligible for my Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion. Just put 3 patterns in your cart and the lowest price will automatically be deducted when you check out. No coupon code needed.
