Mellonia was the ancient Roman goddess of bees and beekeeping, said to maintain the supply and sweetness of honey.

The Mellonia pullover has a boxy fit and dropped shoulders. It is knitted seamlessly from the top down with an easy lace pattern. The pullover is worked beginning at the back neck, increasing to the full width of the back. The increases over the lace pattern are fully charted. Stitches are then picked up for the shoulders and worked to form the front of the pullover. The front and back are joined at the underarm, and the body is then worked in the round. Stitches are picked up from the body for the sleeves and the neckband, and the sleeves are also worked in the lace pattern. The hem and cuffs are finished with a tubular bind off, which provides a beautiful and stretchy edge that creates the effect of stitches rolling over the edge to the other side of the ribbing.
