From the book: Combine solid and bicolored granny squares for a memorable spread. Once you know how to make triangles and squares, you can experiment with lots of traditional quilt patterns.
The pattern specifies: Worsted-weight acrylic yarn, approximately:

32 oz (1760 yards / 1609 meters) white, MC

24 oz (1320 yards / 12071 meters) light gray, A

32 oz (1760 yards / 1609 meters) raspberry, B

24 oz (1320 yards / 1207 meters) mint, C

Size J crochet hook or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: each square = 3.75” / 9.5 cm
This afghan is made with 184 solid squares and 216 bicolor squares for a total of 400 squares of 3 rounds each. A color assembly diagram is included. The pattern begins on page 24.
