Mersea Island
Now also available in Danish here.
Mersea Island, just down the road from where I live, is famous for its oysters and mud but it is also a wonderful place to sit and sketch the small fishing boats that sail in and out on the tide.
With a textured yoke, mock seams, front pockets and short collar, this sweater takes inspiration from both traditional local artist’s smocks and fisherman’s ganseys. Mersea Island is designed to be worn as a top layer so it is oversized and intended to be worn with 4-6 inches /10-15 cm of positive ease.
This sweater is knit from the bottom up in the round with picked up sleeves. There is only a very small amount of seaming required on completion.
