My best friend, Michele, has been asking me to knit her a pair of boot toppers for at least two years, and they are finally done! I needed to come up with a pattern that is as unique and sophisticated as she is, and I really hope she likes them. These boot toppers are soft and squishy, with a mosaic color pattern that will complement her colorful wardrobe.

Boot toppers are a great Christmas gift idea for friends and family; they knit up in a weekend and are a fun alternative to the more traditional knitted presents! When the boots come off, slide them down to the ankles to use as legwarmers.

This pattern knits up very fast using chunky yarn and size 9/5.5mm dpns to create a 12” circumference.

I used Kraemer’s Perfection Chunky in Admiral, paired with Malabrigo Mecha in Whale’s Road. Other lovely yarn choices are Cascades’s Baby Alpaca Grande or Madelinetosh Tosh Chunky.
