Middle Atlas Fingerless Gloves
This pattern appears in the book, Keepers of the Sheep: Knitting in Morocco’s High Atlas and Beyond.
The motif was inspired by the distinctive leg warmers known as Tarriwin that Amazigh men used to knit for their brides. It is created with intarsia knit in-the-round. In the book, this pattern is accompanied by an essay about this technique and its possible implications for the history of knitting in North Africa.
