I devised Mildred’s Mitts for beginning knitters and found the mitts actually fit quite well. This is a good beginning project as these are basically garter stitch rectangles that are sewn together leaving a hole for the thumb. I have used this pattern as a first project in my knitting classes and it has worked well. Skills needed are knit stitch, casting on, binding off and sewing a seam. The new knitter will also learn some pattern reading skills. Enjoy!
