Milky Way Socks
Let that beautiful hand-painted skein of yarn you’ve been hoarding shine! Swirly small cables make this a fun but elegant sock. Slipped stitches and striping with a more solid color bring out the beauty of hand-painted yarn without losing the pattern details.

The Milky Way socks are worked top down in the round. The heel is worked as a heel flap and gusset. For the main part of the pattern, stripes are alternated between a hand-painted yarn and a more solid yarn. On hand-painted rounds, the slipped pattern stitches are slipped, and on the solid rounds, the slipped pattern stitches are cabled, so they stand out from the background. Pattern is both charted and written out.
