Mini Byfall
UPDATE FEBRUARY 2023:
I appreciate everyone’s patience as you waited for an update of this pattern. It has come to my attention that there were imperfections in the pattern and I fixed the known ones for this update. The following changes to the pattern have been made:
- Format change to match my current pattern style.
- Upper arm circumference added to measurements.
- Inc R1 for “sizes 12m…* have been fixed from “K1” to “K4”.
- Needle size guide has been updated to help you achieve an even tension throughout.
- Yardage has been updated to “per color”, sections have been removed.
- Buttonholes are now positioned properly.
- Short row information updated.
- “Decreases” typo fixed in notes.
- Double checked the stitch counts, no changes to that as they are correct.
- “Remove all markers..” removed from “Joining in the round’ instructions.
- Notes updated.
- Colorwork sections are now easier to understand.
There is an adult version of this pattern available in my Ravelry store.
CONSTRUCTION
Mini Byfall is a seamless top down round yoke sweater, with button band on the back of the neck, to expand the head opening for a comfortable fit for a child. The sweater is divided into sections of colors that interlock seamlessly, thanks to stranded colorwork color transitioning motif throughout.
There is an adult version of this pattern available in my Ravelry store.
MATERIALS
Yarn
NOTE: this project is intended for stash busting, therefore, you can use one color (and skip the colorwork), or as many colors as there are color transitions for the sweater of your size.
For the sample I used Shine Sport by Knit Picks (60% Pima Cotton 40% Modal; 110 yards/101 meters/50g)

Needles
Please note that if your stranded colorwork tension is too tight, your fabric may appear inconsistent in gauge. In this case, please switch to larger needles every time you work the colorwork chart.
Size US 4, 3.5 mm circular needles (for ribbing); Size US 6, 4 mm circular needles and/or DPNs (for stockinette stitch);
Size US 7, 4.5 mm circular needles* and/or DPNs (for colorwork).
