Whether you’re adding on another layer to beat those winter chills or covering up on a warm summer evening, Mint Lemonade is the versatile sweater everyone needs in their wardrobe.
Construction
Mint Lemonade is a stylish hooded pullover knit seamlessly from the top down. It is first knit back and forth in rows to raise the back of the neck, after which it is joined and continued in the round. The sweater features wide saddle shoulders combined with raglan-style increases to create a mock drop-shoulder silhouette. The hood is knit is one piece using short rows.
Techniques used in this pattern include Elizabeth Zimmermann’s bind off which she called “casting on/casting off” (aka “sewn bind-off” or “better bind-off”) as well as German short rows.
Sizing
The sweater is designed with 10 – 15 cm / 4 – 6” of positive ease. There is a great deal of depth in the armhole, so individuals with larger chest circumferences can comfortably size down to their preferred ease. There is approximately 5 – 10 cm / 2 – 4” of positive ease in the upper arm. As the sizes increase the amount of ease decreases, so that size 1 has 4” of ease, size 5 has 3”, and size 9 has 2” of ease.
