The yardage given on this page is for this particular yarn (heavy laceweight), and for the gauge given in the pattern. Adjust yarn amounts when making substitutions, and allow for different appearance of item when substituting, especially heavier yarn weights.

EXTRA TIPS FROM DESIGNER:

1. This poncho already fits a wide variety of sizes. But if you still want to change the size, since there are no easy multiples for adjusting the starting ch number, leave your slip knot LOOSE, ch to the size you want (measure on a flat surface), then add plenty of extra ch which you can pick out when you finish the desired rep of Row 1.

2. EASY to make this shorter or longer--just add or subtract rep rows.

3. EASIEST WAY TO SEAM TOP: The top edge (seam edge) measures 39 inches blocked, easily divided into 3 equal parts of 13”. From each outer corner you can easily seam 13” in toward the neck--then you will automatically have a 13” neck opening. Before seaming, just divide into 3 equal sections and mark with stitch markers, making it very easy to know where to seam.

4. Whipstitch seam was used in the pattern, but any seam will work as long as you like the effect.
