The Mistletoe & Mint Hat is a festive hat featuring bold holiday designs.

I was inspired by the idea of wearing “ugly sweaters” around the holidays, but wanted to downsize and rethink the ugly sweater concept to create a truly wearable piece that would be practical to knit. I decided that a whimsical hat would be the perfect project for incorporating trendy knitting techniques and wintry design elements. The finished hat is cozy and slouchy, with added thickness and warmth from the floats. The relaxed fit makes this hat perfect for throwing on for caroling, window-shopping, or ice skating without worry of ruining your hairstyle.

The hat begins with a two-color ribbed brim that reminds me of candy canes and peppermint wheels. The body of the hat features organically-flowing mistletoe branches. I wanted the hat to look like a real bunch of mistletoe, as opposed to a geometric, stylized pattern. Six-panel decreases creates a fitted, flattering crown. I hope you enjoy knitting (and wearing) it!
