Stranded socks knit in patterns based on “veve”; symbols used in voodoo to invoke the spirits. The character in the top hat is Baron Samedi. The long crosses and “spine” are from the symbol for Mama Brigette, a female voodoo spirit.

The snake on the top and bottom of the cuff is done in applied i cord. The top of the sock has a provisional cast on.

The heel is shadow or illusion knitting - head on it looks like stripes, look at it at the right angle and a skull appears.
